Our Love Story

2012 The Beginning

It all began when two people met at this beautiful place called Boso Boso in Antipolo before Christmas. The first time Michael laid eyes on Mara, he was swept away by her beauty, charm and infectious smile. Michael as a seafarer during that time on vacation think of a way on how to catch the attention of this beautiful lady. Mara on the other hand is visiting her Lola Tinay or much known to everyone as Nanay Tinay. During that period Michael’s family is renting in one of Nanay Tinay’s apartment. Michael got this idea of asking Nea (Michael’s youngest sister) and Lira (Mara’s niece) to bring chocolates to Mara as a present. It was there and then that they began getting to know each other. Fell for each other. But as the time goes by happy moments have to end. Michael is commissioned to another vessel and Mara needs to go back to Pasig to help on her family’s business. It was overwhelming for this new lovers to be separated not only by a short distance but separated across the globe. They kept their communication via email and calls. And they survived the first long distance relationship but after a while they decided not to be apart anymore.

2015 The Transition

It was December again and it is Michael’s last assignment on the ship. He retired from working onboard . By the help of Michael’s family, he began a new endeavor on land with his sister’s help (Analou) he established work far from what he is trained to do. Mara on the hand works in Rizal Medical Center at that time. The following year around February or March Mara was pregnant which was truly a blessing because as per Doctors findings she only have a small chance of having a baby. They also move out of Pasig and live in Antipolo to be independent. It was not easy to do but they made it through by trusting and loving each other.

After 3 years Micja arrives. This sweet and loving daughter adds energy and joy to Michael and Mara’s life.

On one occasion as they were attending a mass, a gentle reminder from God gave them the duty to fulfill His sacrament of a church wedding. As the Bible verse Proverbs 18:22: "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord" . After all a church wedding will always be a woman's dream. It may be late but always not a sorry which leads us to...

2025 The Wedding

After all the ups and downs. Tears and joy. Dramas and theatrics, they are now getting ready for this big event. An event almost 12 years in the making.

Taking a note on the chocolate present of Michael to Mara in 2012, we can all say that

“Love, like chocolate, comes to us in many varieties -- pure and simple, rich and complicated, sweet and bittersweet, and always memorable.”
