My Growing Up Story
You never truly understand how fast time flies until you become parents. One day, we were staring at a positive pregnancy test, overwhelmed with happiness, fear, and excitement about the little life growing inside Mama. And before we knew it, nine months had passed—nine long months that sometimes felt like an eternity, kasumpasumpa.
Your journey into this world was never easy, our little one. Mama had to go through countless hospital visits because of a high-risk pregnancy, endless daily and weekly injections, constant monitoring, and so many unexpected challenges. From the fear of a threatened miscarriage to the unexpected emergency operation of your Tatay, our journey was filled with moments of uncertainty, worry, and endless prayers.
There were times when everything felt overwhelming, but through it all, we held on to God and to the hope of finally meeting you. Even when things didn't go as planned, we kept going, knowing that one day, all these struggles would lead us to you. And finally, the day we had been praying for came.
There you were, our precious little girl—so tiny, so perfect, and so loved. The moment we laid our eyes on you, our world changed forever. You looked at us with your innocent little eyes, as if we were your whole world. And little did you know, you had already become ours.
From that moment on, we knew that life would never be the same again. We were no longer just two people living our own lives. We were Mama and Tatay, entrusted with the most precious gift God could ever give us—you.
And your name tells your story so beautifully. You are our little miracle, our answered prayer, and our greatest adventure. You came into our lives after a journey filled with challenges, but you made every difficult moment worth it. You are, and will always be, our Amazing Macie.
Then, just like that, your first twelve months came and went.
In your first year, Mama and Tatay learned that becoming parents is one of the most beautiful yet challenging adventures in life. There were sleepless nights, tiring days, countless diaper changes, feeding schedules, moments of worry, and days when we barely had time to rest. Sometimes, all Mama wished for was a few more hours of sleep, while Tatay had his own challenges in learning how to balance everything and be the best father he could be.
We were learning, too, Macie. Learning how to understand your cries, comfort you when you were upset, care for you when you weren't feeling well, and give you everything you needed while figuring things out along the way. There were moments when we felt exhausted, moments when we doubted ourselves, and moments when we wondered if we were doing enough.
But every time you smiled at us, every time your little hands reached for us, and every time you rested peacefully in our arms, we were reminded why we would do it all over again.
Because being your parents is worth every sleepless night, every sacrifice, and every difficult day.
We may not always get everything right, but one thing we will never run out of is our love for you. We are learning and growing alongside you, becoming better versions of ourselves because you came into our lives. You are not the only one growing up, our little girl. Mama and Tatay are growing, too.
And now, as you turn ONE, we can't help but wonder where all the time has gone. It feels like only yesterday that we were praying to finally hold you in our arms, and now, here you are—growing, discovering the world, and filling our home with so much love and happiness.
Part of us wishes we could pause time and keep you this little a little longer. We want to hold you close, memorize your tiny features, cherish your little giggles, and remember every precious detail of the baby you are today. Because we know that one day, you will no longer fit perfectly in our arms. Your little hands will grow, your tiny feet will take you on new adventures, and you will slowly discover a world beyond the one we have created for you.
One day, you will run ahead of us instead of reaching for our hands. You will have dreams of your own, make choices, face challenges, and find your own place in this world. And as much as we wish we could keep you little forever, we know that our greatest responsibility is not to keep you small, but to help you grow into the person God created you to be.
So, our Amazing Macie, as you celebrate your very first birthday, we pray that you will always grow up knowing how deeply you are loved. May you have a kind heart, a brave spirit, and a faith that will guide you through life's uncertainties. May you never be afraid to dream big, make mistakes, try again, and explore the beautiful world waiting for you.
And whenever life gets difficult, we hope you remember that you will never have to face it alone. Mama and Tatay will be here to cheer you on, guide you when you need direction, hold you when you need comfort, and remind you of your worth when the world makes you question it.
You may not remember the challenges we faced before you were born or the sleepless nights we spent caring for you during your first year. But we hope that someday, when you read this story, you will understand just how much you were loved even before we met you.
You were prayed for in moments of fear, loved through every uncertainty, and welcomed into this world with hearts overflowing with gratitude. You have given our lives a new purpose and taught us that the greatest kind of love is the kind that keeps choosing, sacrificing, and showing up—even on the hardest days.
Happy 1st birthday, our Amazing Macie!
Thank you for choosing us to be your Mama and Tatay. Thank you for making our ordinary days extraordinary and for giving us a kind of love we never knew could be this deep. We may not be perfect parents, but we promise to keep learning, keep growing, and keep loving you with everything we have.
As you begin this new chapter of your little life, remember that no matter how big you grow, how far you go, or how much the world changes, you will always have two people who will love you beyond measure.
You may outgrow our arms, but you will never outgrow our love. You may find your own wings, but you will always have a home in our hearts.
Here's to your first year of life, our little miracle, and to all the beautiful chapters still waiting to be written. May God continue to protect you, guide you, and bless every step of your journey.
We love you endlessly, our Amazing MACIE.
From your very first heartbeat to every birthday still to come, we will always be your Mama and Tatay—and you will forever be our greatest blessing.
Happy first birthday, our baby girl. Our answered prayer. Our greatest adventure. Our Amazing Macie. 💗
