Our Love Story
“Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”- 1 Corinthians 13:4, 7
Hi, I'm Jayson, and I want to share our love story.
Our story began at the Regional Training Center in Camp Guillermo Nakar, where we were both undergoing the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) in 2019. There were 780 newly appointed Police Non-Commissioned Officers from eight different units gathered for training. Pero hindi ko alam na among those hundreds of trainees was the woman who would eventually become my answered prayer.
During our training, everyone was focused on surviving the challenges of our militaristic phase. Maikli ang buhok ng mga babae, kalbo kaming mga lalaki, at lahat kami ay umitim sa tindi ng sikat ng araw. I never imagined that in the middle of all those challenges, I would meet someone who would eventually change my life.
Hindi ko makakalimutan ang unang araw na napansin ko siya. She smiled at me, and something about that simple smile caught my attention. I found myself looking at her, completely captivated. From that moment on, I made an effort to get to know her better. I did everything I could to win her heart.
During our PROLEX, a traditional entertainment activity commonly known among trainees as “Happy Hour,” I found another opportunity to express what I felt. In front of Charlie Company, I sang “With a Smile” by Eraserheads for her. It was a simple gesture, but it became one of the most memorable moments of our training days—a song that will always remind us of where our story began.
After completing our PSBRC, we went our separate ways for our Field Training Exercise. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdowns, and restrictions that made it difficult for us to see each other. But distance never became a reason for me to give up.
After our field training, I knew there was a possibility that I would be assigned to Mindanao for my first duty station, where I might spend the first five years of my service. Knowing that distance could become another challenge for us, I decided to take a step forward and proposed to her. And she said yes. That moment became more than just a promise between two people; it was our commitment to choose each other.
Seven years of love, countless prayers, endless patience, and a thousand reasons to give up—but we chose to stay.
Through the years, we learned that love is not measured by how often we are together, but by how willing we are to remain committed even when circumstances keep us apart. We learned to make sacrifices, trust God's timing, and believe that every challenge had a purpose in our journey.
And now, after all the prayers, waiting, sacrifices, and challenges, we are finally ready to begin a new chapter—not just as boyfriend and girlfriend, but as husband and wife.
From strangers in Charlie Company to partners for life. From a simple smile to a lifetime of promises.
As we begin this new journey, we pray that God will remain at the center of our marriage—guiding our decisions, strengthening our love, and keeping us together through every season of life.
Our forever starts here.
