Our Love Story

Here’s to believing that long-distance relationships can truly work. With God at the center of a relationship, nothing is impossible. Our story isn’t a fairy tale—it’s filled with struggles and bumpy roads—but choosing the right person to navigate and face those challenges with makes all the difference.

Have you ever felt like someone was brought into your life for a reason? That’s exactly how I felt when I met Krystal in 2019 at Vega Manila’s office. She was a staff member, and I was a cadet. From the moment I laid eyes on her, her smile captivated me—it was warm, genuine, and unforgettable. At that time, I lacked the courage to approach her. After all, she was my boss, and I was just a cadet chasing dreams of becoming a seafarer. So, I admired her from a distance, content to watch her from afar.

Months passed while I was on board, I finally mustered the courage to send her a “wave” message. She ignored me, but I kept trying. At first, she was hesitant, suspecting I had a girlfriend. To prove I was single, she jokingly challenged me to shave my head into a semi kalbo-cut. I did, and she laughed but finally believed me.

We began talking, staying up all night sharing stories and deep conversations. Eventually, I confessed my feelings and intentions to her. Over time, she developed feelings for me too, and that’s when she said her first “YES."

As a pandemic couple, distance tested us but deepened our love. Whenever we were together, we made the most of it—traveling, sharing adventures, and creating memories. She showed me how to embrace life fully. She turns my world upside down in the best way, even when she drives me crazy—and that’s just one of the many reasons why I love her.

After two years, she moved to Australia to pursue her dreams. Despite the challenges and the longing we felt for each other, we made long-distance work. On April 28, 2024, I received my second “YES” from her. I proposed with a surprise engagement in Sydney, and my heart overflowed with joy when she accepted and wore my ring. Now, I eagerly await her final “YES” as we stand before God and our loved ones to say, “I do.”

And that is our story—from her being my boss to her becoming The Boss forever
